Data that is deleted
When we process a verified deletion request, we delete the following from our systems (and instruct our service providers to delete it where applicable):
- Account and profile data — name, email, and profile information tied to your Maqam account (including data received from your chosen sign-in provider for authentication).
- Practice and progress data — surah/ayah practice history, session frequency, streaks, scores, completion status, and related progress metadata stored in our cloud systems while you were signed in.
- Preferences and app settings synced to your account.
- Cloud Voice Data — any temporary audio submitted for analysis that has not already been removed. (Recordings submitted for cloud analysis are already processed temporarily and deleted from our servers by default after processing.)
- Support communications linked to your account, except where we must retain them as described below.
Data that may be kept (and for how long)
- On-device recordings — if you saved audio on your device (for example in My recordings or milestone takes), that audio stays on your device only. Deleting your cloud account does not erase files already stored on your phone; remove them in the App or from your device storage.
- De-identified or aggregated data — we may retain information that can no longer reasonably identify you, used to improve the product.
- Legal, security, and fraud records — we may retain limited records as required by law or as needed to detect fraud, resolve disputes, enforce our terms, or protect rights and safety, only for as long as necessary for that purpose.
- App store billing records — purchases, subscriptions, renewals, cancellations, and refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their terms. Maqam does not process payment card details; those stores may retain their own billing records according to their policies.
- Backup copies — deleted data may remain in encrypted backups for a limited period (typically up to 30 days) until those backups are rotated, and is not restored to active systems for ordinary use.
What happens after deletion
Once deletion is complete, you will no longer be able to sign in to that Maqam account or recover cloud-synced progress tied to it. You may create a new account later, but prior cloud progress will not be restored.
Parents and guardians
If you are a parent or legal guardian and want to request deletion of a child's information associated with Maqam, email support@maqamapp.com and describe the request. See also our Privacy Policy (Children's Privacy).
